Grinding spices by hand using stone grinders was common earlier. This method keeps the natural oils of spices and gives better flavor compared to ready-made powders.
Traditional methods also include steaming and boiling. Foods like idli, dhokla, and rice are steamed, making them light and easy to digest.
Even though modern cooking is faster, traditional methods are healthier. They use less oil, simple ingredients, and natural heat.
